Sherene is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. Working in Primary Health Dermatology and specialising in chronic inflammatory skin conditions, Sherene opened her own skin clinic, Skin Flare Solutions, on June 2015, specialising in Chronic Inflammatory Skin Conditions in Primary Health. Ipswich, with a population of 160,000, has only one dermatologist, and Sherene identified the need for dermatology services in the healthcare system in the. She brought Ipswich’s first bulk billed Narrowband UVB Phototherapy treatment to the community so they did not have to travel to Brisbane to receive treatment for conditions such as Psoriasis, Dermatitis, Vitiligo and Acne. She also participates in a fly-in fly-out clinic for Psoriasis to the towns of Rockhampton and Townsville; and she also educates GPs, Registrars and nurses on different chronic skin conditions and on biologic medication medicare applications.
The only NP in Australia to have her own clinic, Sherene also mentors NP and RN through their studies and is an inspiration to other nurses. She demonstrates the commitment of many nurses throughout the world to improving health and wellbeing, changing the lives of her patients through access to skin care which gives them better quality of life, more confidence and self-esteem.
